Carnet de route
Wasenhorn, 3246m - 7 avril 2018

After a good night sleep at L’hospice du Simplon, and a nicer breakfast (coffee à volonté), we started our journey, in the wake of a numerous group of Italians. After passing by the cross, there was a slightly exposed passage, where our Italian momentary companions got a tiny bit stuck (un bouchon proprement dit).
Once this traffic problem was overcome, we continued our way across the Chaltwasser glacier without incidence heading towards the Monte Leone hut. There we made a small pit stop (snacks, water and other things…) After going up some more meters, it was the moment to take off the skis and climb on foot to the summit. We had good snow conditions so the ascent should be relatively easy. Should because due to my horrible french (I’m working on it), I understood that nobody was climbing with crampons. On the way up that was the case, on the way down, when everyone took their crampons from their backpacks, I realized that communication is important in our society. Anyway, I down climbed roped with Alexis, it is nice to take the rope out sometimes.
Once back to the point where we’d left our skis, we put them on, and skinned up the last col, walked a pretty (but short) ridge with the Wasenhorn in front of us and prepeared to ski down to Rothwald (where we had left the cars according to magnificent route planning by Alexis).
Fun and easy descent, where I fell one or two times with no other damage than the ego and cramps in the jaws of the others due to laughing.
